How my life is a Pinnochio Paradox!!
A weird parallelism of my life with Pinocchio paradox.
I recently happened to read about a paradox called Pinnochio paradox. I found it intriguing at first glance. But after thinking alot about it, I started to drew parallels with my life. I thought about sharing it with all of you.
I think most of the people know who Pinnochio is. And for those who don’t know, let me give you a brief introduction about the character.
Pinnochio is a fictional character created by Carlo Collodi an Italian writer. Pinnochio is a wooden puppet made by the character Geppetto who was a lonely carpenter and wished to have a boy with him. Pinnochio even tho being a wooden puppet is alive and is almost like a real boy. Only issue with Pinnochio is that whenever pinnochio lies, his nose will start to grow longer.
Now lets look at what Pinnochio paradox is. Imagine a hypothetical situation where, Pinnochio says “My nose is growing now”. We are stuck in a paradox as soon as he tells this line. How? Suppose if we assume Pinnachio is telling the truth, it negates with the fact that his nose only grows when he lies. His nose is not growing now. His nose grows only when he is lying right? But if he is lying his nose will be growing now right? So he was telling the truth from the beginning! So that negates with our argument that he was lying!.This will keep going on for infinity. Its mind boggling isn’t it? If you didn’t get it, don’t worry read again. Take your time. Even I was like that when I first read about it.
Isn’t it funny tho? Life is like this paradox sometimes. You keep going on circles not knowing what to do. We sometimes gets trapped in such paradoxes of life. It’s stressful isn’t it? I once happened to read an article about hair loss. It said “stress and tension can cause hairloss for men”. And I was like, I’m stressed and tensed because of my hairloss problem. And stressing and being tensed causes more hairfall. But I’m stressed and tensed because of my hair loss! I get stresses and tenses again and more hair starts to fall. A practical paradox!
In India,We live with the same old circle of life. When you are young, study well and pass your exams. After studying go find a job. As soon as you find a job marry a woman. Have kids after like an year. And when you have kids, congratulations. Welcome to season 2 of getting trapped by life! Same problems but from a different point of view! It’s all a big paradox isn’t it?
It doesn’t make much sense isn’t it?
Well I may not have an answer to escape from life’s paradox, but I do have one for Pinnochio. When Pinnachio says “my nose is growing now” just say “ok Pinnochio” and move on. I mean why getting trapped in his paradox anyway. You have better things to do anyway right? Hmm intresting… Should I do the same with life’s paradox?
Thanks for reading. If you enjoyed reading my story, please be free to leave claps and comments. It motivates me to write more😄
